HoCook!
Brief
"How can we bridge communities with different culture?"
Since the introduction of the BNO visa route three years ago, over 191,000 Hong Kong citizens have moved to the UK in search of a better life. However, many British people may find it difficult to understand their experiences and often lack opportunities to get to know them. At the same time, Hongkongers may also struggle to integrate into British culture.
Concept
This project aims to bridge the Hong Kong and UK communities through game culture, fostering mutual understanding and reducing discrimination toward Hongkongers. By using food as a medium, the project helps Hongkongers learn where to find ingredients in the UK to recreate dishes from home, while also teaching British people how to cook Hong Kong cuisine using locally available ingredients. Through these culinary experiences, the project introduces the culture and personal stories of Hongkongers, encouraging cultural exchange and connection.
