Blooming Guide
Brief
How can we help male carers support tween girls through puberty?
A teenage girl has to undergo new challenges when facing puberty. Menstruation, body changes, and mood swings may be difficult and overwhelming. While many resources focus on how mothers or female caregivers can help, it's vital to acknowledge and empower male carers, who increasingly take on primary caregiving roles. In 2023, there were 15% of lone parent families were headed by a lone father / male carer.
However, many male carers face unique challenges in supporting their daughters through puberty. They often struggles to provide help and support due to lack of experience, cultural taboos and embarrassment around these topics.
Concept
Blooming Guide is puberty education toolkit made for 8-10 years old girls and their male carers. The toolkit aims to provide information and gives advice on communication to male carers, then foster an opportunity for both male carers and girls to learn and talk about puberty in a casual and easier way.
By dividing it into 3 stages: "Reaching Out", "Preparation", and "Learn & Communicate, it makes sure that both the male carer and the child have the suitable learning tools, hence communicate and learn together.
Blooming Guide takes care of every procedure of the learning process.
